Youth

Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

一旦青春的天线倒下，你的灵魂即为玩世不恭之雪 、悲观厌世之冰覆盖；即使你年方20.其实你已垂垂老也
。而只要你青春的天线高高耸起 ，就可以随时接收到乐观的电波-----即使你年过八旬
，行将就木，而你却仍然拥有青春 ，你仍然年轻。

Can you think of any other causes of fire? When a fire begins, we must telephone the firemen. Do you know how to do this? Go to the nearest telephone and dial the number 119. (911 in USA; 999 in UK) The firemen will arrive quickly. People who fail to (无法，没能够) get out of the house will be saved by them. If some people are hurt they must be taken to hospital at once in ambulances. (救护车)

Today, I want to say something about goals.

Shakespeare said：‘To be or not to be ,this is a question.’ As a youth, since we have chosen to live, I think we should set goals for life. Today, I just want to publish some of my personal points.

First of all, the most important is that we should know the meaning of the goal. I want to remind you that goal is a plan of life, rather than a dream. I used to set lots of goals, but few of them realized. The reason why I gave up those goals is that most of them are unrealistic. So I want to say when you make a goal, you should guarantee the goal can be completed. Otherwise everything would be meaningless. And then make sure, the goal is for the life not just for a short time. Therefore trying to look at the problem with a long term vision is also very important. of course, it doesn’t mean goals must not be changed. You can adjust according to the situation if you think it is more meaningful to realize the value of life.

Second, when you have made a goal, does it mean everything is ok? No, not at all! To achieve this goal is much more important Even if the goal is meaningful. if you don’t achieve, it means nothing. Therefore to be persistent you may as well try you best achieve each of you goals well Even if the goals are just plain, you can sill succeed. Remember, it’s extraordinary if you do every ordinary thing well.

These are all my opinions I hope these suggestions can help you achieve your goals in life and have a better tomorrow.
